The Gory Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Viewers

Out of all the mature cartoon movies I’ve personally viewed, nothing has stuck with me as much as the dread-soaked ending of a graphically gory and deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director created a grim, bleak , frequently brutal universe with a few small , desolate glimmers of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from an impulse to expand the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was actually a try to communicate a widespread, cross-cultural theme concerning “the common origin of each battle.”

That idea is communicated by means of a band of vividly colored bears , openly based on a well-known series of lovable characters.

Maturing in a society built around militarism and the war machine, many of the bears are fixated on killing the mythical beasts, because of a sacred text that claims the bears they used to be masters of the forest, before the horned beings forced them out.

A few did not entirely bought into the propaganda, , choose to sample substances and mate in the woods.

Unlike their friendly equivalents, these vivid animals show genitals and obvious sex drives.

For a particular particularly cruel, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the conflict with the unicorns becomes a route to control — and particularly to authority over his gentler, nicer brother the character Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor , an apparent psychopath , and as horror takes over his group and takes his teammates individually, he grabs increasingly control personally, via progressively violent, destructive ways.

At the same time, these mythical beings are experiencing their own nightmare, as a spreading, harmful creature in their woods.

“In the early stages, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the director stated. “Yet it evolves into a more intense and melancholic movie. And by the end, it’s a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars begins resembling among the quirky movies from a legendary animator, that uncover a mischievous joy in permitting drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Subsequently it turns into closer to a bleaker movie from the same creator, including ever more visual gore and a noticeable connection to the actual tragedy of battle.

In the finale, it becomes a full-on extreme drama massacre.

The terror that makes this an ideal spooky-season movie starts much sooner than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who desire to watch a movie they have not watched previously, and who can handle a narrative which delivers unflinching brutality.

Watch it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and that ending will dig deep within you and linger.
