Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
